This is the current Craft Beer Tour you take this piece of paper around with you with the map on one side and the bar list on the other and collect stamps from each bar.
This current system has a few fauls is it as I found out first hand.
- if its raining the map get destroyed
- some bars can be closed due to private function
- the map is hard to navigate
- there is to much information on one piece of paper
- street text is to small to read
- there is no separation between trails on map
- they have started to colour code the map but didn't reflect it through to the rest of the map
The second two pages have a nicer aesthetic to them and we would like to carry through to our own work so they still look like they belong together rather than totally re branding the trail.
We have decide to take all the information and the event from this and move it to a digital platform to improve the over all experience of the Craft Beer Trail.
For example in stead of stamps you will take a photo of you with your beverage or food in front of something iconic in the bar eg. a logo or a menu.
Rather then getting lost on the static map that you cant read, it will have a map that will walk/ drive you to the front door.
We like their you of play on words, how they have treated it like a game (example below) and wish to carry this through to our own work.
We love their use of the beer bucket fountain and want us this again.
Welcome
The welcome it a bit t text heavy for a digital platform so we have taken out what we find to be important.
WELCOME TO THE
CRAFT BEER
CAPITAL
your official guide
A lovely harbour, Lord of the Rings, the seat of
Government, blows like hell; we know all that,
but what really excites us about Wellington is
its reputation as one of the world’s great craft
beer appreciation spots.
As well as the sixteen bars and four bottle stores you'll
fi nd on this map, there are eight actual breweries in
operation, seven of which didn't even exist four years
ago.
We've divided the Capital up into two trails - North
and South - both of which can be tackled for the most
part on foot. For longer hops (excuse the pun) there
are always handy buses to make things a lot easier.
If you manage to complete one or both trails, you'll
be able to carry prizes of genuine Craft Beer Capital
merchandise home in triumph.
Enjoy the craft beer, enjoy the hospitality and be sure to
drink sensibly and stay safe - Cheers!
